He is a speaker and presenter on a variety of topics ranging from Inner Politics, Living from the Centre of the Cyclone. With over 20 years experience as psychotherapist and 10 years as trainer, coach and consultant in the corporate world, he combines a unique mixture of talents and skills to motivate and assist people in transforming the undesired and destructive emotional and mental patterns of behavior in their personal and professional lives into productive, creative, healthy and joyful ones through awareness, in-depth learning, playful practice and loving commitment.

Selected Skills and Accomplishments

  • Team-building coach
    • Created and led a series of workshops on emotional intelligence for supervisors and managers of Royal Dutch Telecom.
    • Created and led a series of workshops on mobility and creativity for telephone operators of Royal Dutch Telecom which at the time was making a transition from a stat-owned company to a profitable private enterprise.
    • Wrote a scenario for resolving conflicts and improve teamwork for the Teleconferencing department of Royal Dutch Telecom and facilitated its implementation with the employees.
  • Speaker, writer and performer.
    • Wrote and performed a monologue for employees of Royal Dutch Telecom with the central theme of rigidity vs. creativity to motivate them to become more flexible in their jobs and more mobile in their job change.
    • Wrote and performed a myth that inspired the avant-garde artists community ‘Het Voorbeeld’ (the Example) to help integrate art into a multi-cultural area of Amsterdam.
    • Wrote a myth, ‘The Caterpillar Caravan’ to further a Woodstock, New York renaissance of healing and creative arts.


  • Eclectic Psychotherapist
    • As co-founder and co-director of SYNCSCAPES with his wife, psychotherapist, writer and energy coach Francine Juhasz, Ph.D, Hans Houtman uses his large theoretical and experiential knowledge of therapeutic techniques from as varied schools of psychology as Jung’s Analytical School, Psycho-Synthesis, Gestalt, Pathwork, NLP, Enneagram, Systems-thinking, Sacred, Transpersonal, and Quantum-psychology, to help a wide clientele transform their varied states of victimhood into states of co-creatorship.

      Former clients include businessmen and women, bank managers, lawyers, doctors, artists, psychotherapists, musicians, and service personnel—from the Netherlands, Switzerland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Spain, and the United States.
    • Created and led workshops on Inner Politics in Woodstock, New York

  • Painter
    • Developed his own unique style of abstract ‘spaces’ paintings which he showed in several exhibitions in Amsterdam (Holland), Düsseldorf (Germany), Ibiza (Spain). He uses this experience in assisting people in handling chaos and uncertainty and in exploring their own creative powers.
  • Kripalu Yoga Teacher
    • Uses, as a lifelong practioner of Raja yoga and Zen-meditation, the experiences and insights found on those paths to introduce awareness, flexibility, presence, joy and a sense of inner space in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Holds an M.A. in Contemporary History from the University of Amsterdam with Minors in Didactic Psychology and Cultural Anthropology
  • Graduated at the Institute for Applied Integral Psychology (ITIP) in Zuthpen, The Netherlands
  • Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts, USA
